Boris Diaw, Sailing Around the World Aboard a SEVENTY 7

Boris Diaw: A Lover of Travel 

Following a prestigious international basketball career, Boris Diaw has chosen to turn the page on professional sports and become the owner of SEVENTY 7 n° 3, christened Babac.

Passionate about diving and travel, he began – six years ago, now – his world tour, a project he wishes to extend over 13 years.

Six months each year, he cruises the world’s oceans and seas. The rest of the time, Boris spends traveling between France and the United States.

"I have always loved to travel, and I asked myself what to do when I retire from professional sports. I began to think about this, maybe, ten years ago. Travel? Yes! Would I have the time? Yes! Nothing better than travelling by sailboat.”

Tahiti, Bora, Tonga, Fiji … Today, his catamaran is located in New Zealand. In a short time, Boris will return to cruising, headed for Polynesia, before sailing on to the Austral Islands. Boris Diaw:

A Passionate Sailor

Originally from the Arcachon Basin, Boris Diaw has always been fascinated by the sea. In his youth, he had a semi-rigid boat, aboard which he made day trips, and thus, his passion for being on the water was born.

Before, whenever he had free time, between basketball seasons, he tried to be on the water every day. 

Boris loves marine activities, like diving and fishing. He enjoys being on the water and taking advantage of the calm of the ocean.

Boris has chosen to personalize his yacht to accommodate his passion for diving. He had a dive center installed, for complete autonomy on board, so he can take maximum advantage of this activity.

A Special Relationship with Lagoon

His relationship with Lagoon began through a friend, who owned a Lagoon 420, with whom he had the chance to go sailing over two summers.

He developed a taste for sailing. Boris has always remained in contact with the brand. 

He had investigated other catamarans, but each time, he came back to Lagoon. 

Boris chose Lagoon for its quality, as well as for this unique relationship of trust that he maintained with the Lagoon crew.

"For me, the Lagoon brand is synonymous with trust. I have enjoyed working together with Lagoon to plan my pre-retirement. It was very important, for me, that everything go well, and that everything be done in the right conditions. I chose to trust Lagoon from the beginning, and I do not regret my choice at all, because I have enjoyed my SEVENTY 7 from the first day on board."
